Eight persons burnt to death in Abdu Gusau Polytechnic religious crisis in Zamfara

Eight persons were burnt to death yesterday following the religious crisis that broke out at the Abdu Gusau Polytechnic, Talata-Mafara in Zamfara state as a result of alleged blasphemy against Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) by a student of the college.Zamfara rukus
According to an eyewitness account, a male student who is a Christian allegedly made a blasphemous statement about Prophet Muhammad during an exchange of words with a Muslim friend, this infuriated his Muslim colleagues who immediately descended on him, beating him to a pulp.

Kaduna state govt set to ban use of High energy consuming bulb in the state

The Kaduna State Government on Monday said it is set to ban the use of high energy consuming bulb in the state as part of strategy to boost energy efficiency.El RufaiThe state’s Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Muhammad Abdullahi made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kaduna.

According to him, the state government will next year begin a sensitization campaign against use of High energy consuming bulbs before placing a ban on it.

President Buhari seeks emergency powers to tackle economy recession

President Buhari will be seeking emergency powers from the National Assembly to push his planned stimulus for the economy as part of efforts to save the country's economy from sliding further into recession.PMB
According to the Nation, when the National Assembly reconvenes in September after their vacation, the president will present an executive bill titled: “Emergency Economic Stabilisation Bill 2016”.
In the bill, the executive will be asking for President Buhari to be given sweeping powers to set aside some extant laws and use executive orders to roll out an economic recovery package within the next one year.
