UEFA Champions League pots & group stage

The draws for the 2016/17 UCL group stage will take place in Monaco at 18.00CET on Thursday 25th August 2016. 
The reigning UCL Champions Real Madrid are in top seed and will be joined by league champions in the seven association countries; Spain (Barcelona), Germany (Bayern Munich), France (PSG), England (Leicester City), Italy (Juventus), Portugal (Benfica) & Russia (CSKA Moscow). 

The remaining pots which will be decided by UEFA club's coefficients, will not be determined until after the remaining 10 group stage berths are played but six of the eight teams on Pot 2 are already known which is as follows:

POT 2: Arsenal, Athleico Madrid, Bayern Leverkusen, Sevilla, Napoli, Dortmund

Tottenham/Basel will be in pot 2/3 depending on the outcome of this week's playoffs result, with the likes of Manchester City, Celtic, Borussia Monchengladbach

Elsewhere, Dynamo Kyiv, Lyon, PSV, Sporting CP will be In Pot 3 to be joined by four other teams after the playoffs while Besiktas is the only confirmed POT 4 team to be joined by 7 others after the playoff.

The draw ceremony will also include presentation of 2015-16 UEFA Best Player in Europe Award with Real Madrid duo Cristiano Ronaldo & Gareth Bale shortlisted for the prestigious price alongside Athletico Madrid's ace Antoine Greizmann.
