South African kwaito music star, Mduduzi Edmund Tshabalala aka Mandoza, has passed on. He was aged 38. He died yesterday after a long battle with cancer, which had reportedly spread to his brain, leading him to lose his sight completely.
He was facing difficulties in breathing and was rushed to the hospital. He died at the hospital gate.
He started his career with Chiskop, a kwaito group formed with three of his childhood friends. He also participated in the kwaito documentary SHARP! SHARP! – the kwaito story, and the 2006 rugby drama, Number 10.
His family had last week confirmed he was being treated at home for a brain tumour.
