Suspected Commander of the Niger Delta Avengers, General Felix Omereji, alongside other fighters of the group, on Wednesday surrendered their arms to the Imo State government.
Speaking during the disarmament at the Imo International Convention Centre, IICC, General Felix explained he boycotted the first phase of the programme last week because he wanted to see the sincerity of the state government regarding those who surrendered.
Regretting their attacks in oil producing areas of the state, Felix surrendered weapons ranging from AK-47 to explosives of various kinds.
Okorocha, while speaking at the event granted General Felix and his fighters pardon but noted that President Muhammadu Buhari would grant them amnesty.
He said, “We are here to receive our children who have been living in the forest for years, killing many people. I am your father. I will pardon you, while the president would grant you amnesty.”
