Suspended House of Representatives member Abdulmumin Jibrin in a statement said he would stand as a witness in court if all the lawmakers in the house do not return the over N10 million monthly running cost money they have fraudulently collected since they came into the chambers.Jibrin
In the statement he shared on his Facebook page, Jibrin said he has sent a letter to all the lawmakers asking them to return the money to the Clerk of the House.

The naira closed at 312.99 against the dollar at the interbank market on Wednesday.

House Of Rep suspends Jibrin Abdulmumin

The House of Representatives today suspended Abdulmumin Jibrin for 180 legislative days.Jibrin
In a motion recommended by House Ethics Committee chairman, Nicholas Ossai, and adopted by the whole House, Mr. Jibrin will also not be able to hold any position of responsibility for the span of the current National Assembly.

The House seats three days in a week which means Jibrin’s suspension would last more than a year.

The Buhari administration has proposed the sell some asset to revive the economy. But many Nigerians are opposed to the plan, arguing that previous sales barely helped the nation’s economy.

Naira now 445 to a Dollar


The naira declined further on the parallel market as it slipped to N445 to the dollar yesterday, lower than the N440 to the dollar it closed on Friday as pressure and activities of speculators continued to hurt the nation’s currency.

Mr Aminu Gwadabe, the President, Association of Bureau De Change Operators of Nigeria has however argued that the current rate of the naira on the parallel market was not a true reflection of the value of the currency. He also attributed the development to the activities of speculators. 

Buhari approves new appointments for 13 government agencies



President Muhammadu Buhari has approved new appointments in 13 Federal Government agencies.
The appointments according to a statement by the Director (Press) in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Bolaji Adebiyi, include Mr. Joseph Ari as Director-General of Industrial Training Fund (ITF), Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim (Pantami) as Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).

Naira now 440 to a Dollar

According to reports, the naira was yesterday sold at the parallel market for 440 per dollar, as the lingering foreign exchange scarcity increased to a new level.




The local currency, which closed at 436/dollar on Thursday, eased to 435 in the early hours of Friday.

The latest declines in the naira value started on Wednesday, a day after the Central Bank of Nigeria’s Monetary Policy Committee retained the benchmark lending rate at 14 per cent.

Siasia gives NFF two weeks ultimatum to pay his salaries

Siasia says his patience is fast running out as the NFF owes him five months’ salary arrears from the start of April to August 2016.

‎Adeosun said this during an interview with newsmen over the weekend. She said; “I don’t want to predict when we will get out of recession. Let me tell you that we will get into growth and that’s how you get out of recession, because of the stimulus that we are providing. ‎It may take longer than we would like, but we will definitely get out of it. We are already seeing some positive signs in agriculture and solid minerals and with what we are trying to do with other sectors, I am very sure we will get out of it soon.
She, however pointed out that some of the efforts of the government to reflate the economy had started yielding results.

Six confirmed dead after eating abacha in Lagos

Six persons have been confirmed dead in Isolo Local Government Area of Lagos State after eating contaminated cassava delicacy, otherwise known as Abacha, a local food of the people of the South-East geopolitical zone.abacha

A new report by Amnesty International has accused the special Nigerian police unit set up to combat crimes of torturing detainees in its custody as a means of extracting confessions and lucrative bribes.police
The human rights campaign group said in the report published on Wednesday, that former detainees said they had been subjected to horrific torture methods, including hanging, starvation, beatings, shootings and mock executions, at the hands of corrupt officers within the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

Amnesty has received reports from lawyers, human rights defenders and journalists and collected testimonies stating that some police officers in SARS regularly demand bribes, steal and extort money from criminal suspects and their families.

TMZ reports that the actress filed papers on Monday citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split and asking for physical custody of the couple's six children. 
A source close to the couple said Jolie, 41, made the decision to file because of the way 'Brad was parenting the children,' adding that 'she was extremely upset with his methods.'
The pair began dating in 2004 and were married in August 2014.

2016 Hajj: 18 Nigerians confirmed dead

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has said eighteen Nigerians died at the just concluded 2016 Hajj in Saudi Arabia.hajj
According to the body, the victims were from Kwara, Kogi, Bauchi, Taraba, Niger, Kaduna and the FCT.
Head of NAHCON’s medical team, Ibrahim Kana said two pilgrims, including a 40-year-old woman, died in Madinah, three died in Muna, while 13 died in Makkah.
