Portugal defeated Poland 5-3 on penalties after playing a 1-1 draw in normal time to advance to the semi-final of Euro 2016.
Robert Lewandowski had given Poland an early lead with a goal before 18 year old Renato Sanchez equalized for Portugal.
The 1-1 draw led both sides to a penalty shoot-out, only for former Poland skipper Jakob Blaszczykowski to see his effort saved with Portugal advancing courtesy of a 5-3 success as substitute Ricardo Quaresma struck the winning penalty. They have now qualified into the semi-finals of Euro 2016 where they will meet either Wales or Belgium.
