President Buhari has appointed former Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Nsima Ekere as the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). He is taking over from Mrs Ibim Semenitari, who has been there on acting capacity.
Ekere was Deputy to former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio.
Also, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba has been appointed the Chairman of the agency.
Ndoma-Egba, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, who hails from Cross River State, takes over from Bassey Ewa-Henshaw, also from the state.
Ndoma-Egba was a member of the Peoples Democratic Party until September last year when he resigned from the party following his inability to secure its governorship ticket. He joined the ruling All Progressives Congress in November.
Their names were forwarded to the Senate Wednesday by President Muhammadu Buhari for confirmation.
NDDC was established for the development of the oil-rich Niger Delta region.
