Abuja court refuses to vacate first order on Ikpeazu's sack

A Federal High Court in Abuja has declared that it would not set aside its previous judgement sacking Okezie Ikpeazu as the governor of Abia state over tax offences.
Barrister Monday Ubani, legal counsel to Governor-elect of Abia State, Dr. Uche Ogah, weekend, expressed dismay that the Chief Judge of Abia State, Justice Theresa Uzokwe, who ought to swear-in and administer oath of office to Ogah had gone into ‘hiding.’
Justice Okon Abang had on June 27 declared Ikpeazu to vacate the Abia state governor’s office because he presented a fake tax clearance during the primaries.
The case had been filed by Uche Ogah, the first runner-up to Ikpeazu in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primary election before the gubernatorial election.

Justice Abang had ruled in favor of Ogah, ordering the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to immediately install him as the governor of the state.
Wole Olanipekun (SAN) had filed an application requesting the court to set aside its previous order on behalf of Okezie.
Justice Okon Abang today said the first order of the court will not be vacated as requested by the lawyer but that he would hear other applications on the matter on Thursday.
The drama surrounding the court’s decision continues as the sacked governor immediately filed against the court ruling at an appellate court.
