MTN fine: Lawmaker drags two ministers to court

A member of the House of Representatives, Raphael Igbokwe, has filed a suit against the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) Abubakar Malami alongside the Minister of Communication Technology, Adebayo Shittu, over the reduction of the fine imposed on telecommunication giant, MTN. MTN and NCC
Also named in the suit are MTN and the NCC.
The suit, which was filed before an Abuja federal high court, is praying the court to determine whether the defendants have the right to reduce the fine imposed on MTN by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

In his affidavit, Igbokwe noted that he is vested in ensuring the development of Nigeria hence his reason for filing the suit.
He argued that both ministers do not have the power to amend, alter, adjust or vary any provisions of a legislation or any other law validly made by the National Assembly.
