Zika virus has been found in Africa - WHO

The World Health Organization says that the strain of Zika virus which had caused massive outbreak in Brazil has been found in Africa.Zika
Zika has been connected to severe neurological disorders that often cause babies to be born with small brains.
The disease which is currently in Cape Verde has so far affected more than 7,000 persons, with 180 pregnant said to have been affected and three babies born brain damaged with microcephaly caused by the disease.

According to the BBC, WHO’s Regional Director for Africa, Matshidiso Moeti cautioned Africans against unprotected sex and mosquito bites.
She said: “This information will help African countries to re-evaluate their level of risk and adapt and increase their levels of preparedness.”
There have been more than 1,300 confirmed cases of microcephaly in Brazil. Scientists say the disease is caused by mosquito bites and can be transmitted from infected persons.
