FG considers dialogue with Niger Delta militants

Following the renewed attacks in the Niger Delta region by militant groups, the Nigerian government, on Monday, disclosed that it is considering opening discussion with the militants in the region.Militants
This was disclosed by the Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu, and the Minister for Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed.

The duo disclosed this while speaking at an interactive session with a coalition of civil societies in Lagos. They noted that the militant activities are destroying the Nigeria’s economy.
While Mohammed said that the only alternative left for government is to dialogue with the militants, Kachikwu, on his own part, said, “The military barrels cannot stop or solve problem of militancy in the Niger–Delta region. I will have to go back to my brothers, they are our brothers we will go and dialogue with them.”
