On Monday, social media was bombarded with pictures of Senator Dino Melaye rolling on the floor, falling under different kinds of anointing and praising his maker. Suddenly yesterday,this same man who was thanking God was defending dirty randy lecturers on the legislative floor.
While senators were arguing over a bill prohibiting sexual harassment of students by lecturers in tertiary educational institutions at yesterday's plenary session, Dino Melaye the senator representing Kogi West stood up and said that some men do not have the “anointing” to resist sexual harassment. Yup! You heard him correctly ''anointing" was the word he used.
In his own words he said; “I support wholeheartedly that this bill be enacted to stand as deterrent to lecturers who take advantage of female students,”.
“However, the seductive and provocative dresses of our students who enter offices of lecturers who have no anointing to resist sexual temptation should be discouraged.”
That was how a respected Senator of the Federal Republic came on the legislative floor to blame the victim, and defend the predators. I don't know if he was trying to feature on the #TrailerJamShow on twitter abi he want's to take over the #BiggerFridayShow from Falz because he is trying to outdo those guys in showbiz of late.
The bill prescribes a five-year jail term for lecturers who engage in sexual relationship with students and sanction students who falsely accuse lecturers of sexual harassment. The bill passed second reading at the Senate on Wednesday.
I wonder what more dramas is brewing in Dino Melaye's camp because he hasn't shut down Nigeria as the pump price hasn't reduced.
