The Kaduna Police Command, on Tuesday, declared a ‘state of emergency’ in the state, following the increased spate of kidnapping incidents.
According to the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Zubairu Abubakar, an anti-kidnap squad has been constituted to fight kidnapping in the state.
Abubakar, who stated this during an interview with newsmen, noted that the declaration of state of emergency was based on the order of the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase.
It would be recalled that an official of the Nigerian Army, Samaila Inusa, was last month kidnapped and later found dead in Kaduna.
The Vice-President, United Church of Christ in Nigeria and a former Executive Director, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation were also kidnapped in the state in recent time.
Several other notable Nigerians have also been kidnapped in the state within the last three months.
