Embattled South African President, Jacob Zuma has seen an impeachment move begin in the Parliament just days after a Constitutional Court ruled that he repay funds from a government funded renovation of his personal residence.
Jacob Zuma’s party, African National Congress holds the majority in Parliament and it is unlikely the impeachment move will get the two thirds support it requires. Nonetheless, Jacob Zuma will be worried by his increasing unpopularity even as officials within his own party seem dissatisfied with his administration.
The impeachment motion was moved by the opposition party, Democratic Alliance and will be debated in Parliament today.
