According to a statement issued by the Presidential Spokesman, Mr Garba Shehu, Cameroonian health and security officials are making efforts to rouse the suspected bomber, who was found to be heavily drugged, and is also receiving treatment for multiple injuries.

The presidential aide added that pictures of the arrested girl obtained by Nigerian officials indicate that the girl in question is a minor between nine and 12 years.

The statement also says the pictures of the girl have been forwarded to the Murtala Mohammed Foundation for verification by interested Chibok community stakeholders.

Mr Shehu added that the Ministry of Women Affairs, the Nigerian High Commission in Cameroon and other agencies of government will continue to work together with other stakeholders to verify all the issues.

The suspected suicide bomber was reportedly intercepted in northern Cameroonbefore she could blow herself up.

She was said to have claimed to be one of the 219 Chibok girls kidnapped by Boko Haram militants from Borno State in 2014.
