The La Liga giants failed to score in the first half, but Cristiano Ronaldo opened scoring with a fine individual effort. Jese added a second late into the game to ensure Madrid are firm favourites to qualify.

In the second game of the night, Julian Draxler scored a brace as Wolfsburg beat Gent 2-0 at the Ghelamco Arena.
The Bundesliga raced into a three-goal lead, before Sven Kums and Kalifa Coulibaly netted late on, to give the Belgian club a slim chance of progressing to the next stage of the competition.
