Killers of Ex-FUTA vice-chancellor sentenced to death by hanging

An Ondo State High Court sitting in Akure has sentenced two persons, Ita Enang and Olayemi Bamitale, to death by hanging for killing former Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Prof. Albery Ilemobade.Killers of Prof Ilemobade
Enang and Bamitale, respectively served as gateman and driver to the deceased.
They were accused of killing Ilemobade late September last year, dumped his remains in an empty stall in his compound before taking away his Toyota SUV car and other valuable items.

The remains of Ilemobade was later found by family members, a week after he was killed.
The criminals were arrested in Ogun State by police officers, while attempting to dispose the stolen items.
However, the Presiding Judge, Justice Olamide Williams agreed that the prosecuting counsel had proven beyond any doubt that the two accused persons caused the untimely death of the professor for their selfish gain.
Olamide also found the two culprits guilty of conspiracy and robbery for taking away Prof Ilemobade’s Toyota SUV car, laptops, phones, N7000 and other belongings.
He frowned at the dastardly act of the two accused persons, saying it is a further revelation that youths of nowadays just want to be rich not minding the way such riches come.
The prosecuting counsel, Mr. Adesola Tuki, who spoke with reporters commended the judgement, saying it will serve as a deterrent to those that may have such intentions in the future.
