Olubadan of Ibadan’s deputy, High Chief Kuye dies at 87

Another high chief of Ibadan, High Chief Omowale Kuye has passed-on.

The demise came barely two weeks after the Balogun Olubadan of Ibadanland, High Chief Suleiman Omiyale passed on.

Until his death on Thursday, Kuye was the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland; he died at the age of 87.

Kuye died at his residence, Ikolaba area of Ibadan around 7.30p.m. He was buried Friday afternoon, according to Islamic rites, The Nation reports.

Until his death, Kuye was a step to becoming Olubadan.

Kuye was a former Director General, Special Duties and later Budget in the Office of the President of Nigeria. He worked with former Nigerian presidents, Alhaji Shehu Shagari and General Olusegun Obasanjo

Kuye was born in May 18, 1928. He attended Salvation Army School, Apatere, (1935-41); Ibadan Boys High School, (1942-48); London School of Economics, (University of London), (B.Sc. Economics Hons) (1963); the Council of Legal Education, London, (B.L 1965); The School of Citizenship & Public Affairs, University of Syracuse, Syracuse-New York USA, (M. A Economics Planning & Budgeting, 1970); and Nigeria Law School (B.L, 1978).

He started his working career at Federal Ministry of Trade (1967-70); Federal Ministry of Industries (1971-76) and became Assistant Director, Expenditure Budget, Federal Ministry of Finance (1978).

Thereafter, he served as Assistant Director, Revenue Budget, Federal Ministry of Finance (1979); Head, Budget Department Ministry of Finance (1979-85); Permanent Secretary, Budget Affairs (1986-88).
