Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun says he will not renege on his promise to pay the N18, 000 minimum wage despite calls by some other state governors to have the minimum wage reduced due to the reduced Federal allocation.
Governor Amosun stated this during the presentation of the 2016 Appropriation bill to the members of the State House of Assembly in Abeokuta yesterday November 24th.
Governor Amosun stated this during the presentation of the 2016 Appropriation bill to the members of the State House of Assembly in Abeokuta yesterday November 24th.
He said his administration which had been consistent in paying its workers in spite of dwindling revenue from the Federation Account was committed to increasing the minimum wage if the economy improves.
Amosun added that Ogun State remained the only State that pays marginally above minimum wage, assuring that government’s attention would be shifted to rural roads to complement the ongoing urban infrastructural projects in the next fiscal year.
