2018 World Cup Qualifier: FIFA orders South Africa vs Senegal clash be replayed

The world football governing body, FIFA, has ordered a World Cup qualifier clash between South Africa and Senegal to be replayed after a Ghanaian referee who has been banned for life manipulated the match.

Ghanaian referee Joseph Lamptey awarded a penalty for a nonexistent handball in the previous game which was played on the 12th of November, 2016 which South Africa won 2-1 and was subsequently banned for life for match manipulation by FIFA in March.

Senator Buruji Kashamu representing Ogun East, has urged the Chairman, National Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ahmed Makarfi, to stop threatening him with expulsion from the party.

Kashamu in a statement on Wednesday, said he has done nothing wrong to warrant his expulsion.

Yesterday, a video of the Minister of Women Affairs in the Buhari-led government, Aisha Alhassan, endorsing former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar's 2019 presidential aspiration, surfaced online with many Nigerians accusing her of being disloyal to the government that she is working for.

In a new interview with BBC Hausa, she said she doesn't mind getting sacked because come 2019, if Atiku contests against President Buhari in the presidential election, she will vote for Atiku because he is her godfather and she owes him total loyalty.

Saudi King to visit Trump early next year

King Salman of Saudi Arabia plans to visit President Donald Trump at the White House early next year.

The White House says the leaders agreed on Salman’s visit when they spoke by telephone Wednesday.

They also discussed shared interests, including enhancing security and prosperity in the Middle East.

Nigeria exiting recession not true- Fayose

The Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose has claimed that the announcement that Nigeria was out of economic recession was inaccurate.

In a press statement by his spokesperson, Lere Olayinka, on Wednesday, Mr. Fayose said the statistics upon which the claim was based is meaningless to Nigerians.

He said, “The reality is that Nigerians are suffering and dying, with foods and drugs out of their reach and no amount of economic statistics will make meaning to people who cannot afford to eat once daily.”

Health minister asks govt hospitals to employ ad hoc doctors

Minister of health, Isaac Adewole has directed heads of Federal hospitals to engage the services of ad hoc doctors while resident doctors are on strike.

The doctors had gone on strike on Monday over the failure of the government to meet their demands.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Boade Akinola, spokesperson of the ministry, said the new directive was an effort to reduce the workload on consultants and NYSC doctors.

Elder statesman and notable Ijaw leader, Edwin Clark, has described the agitation for the creation of Biafra by IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu and other agitators as nonsense.

Clark who said this when he received the chairman of the senate committee on Local and Foreign Debt, Shehu Sani, at his home in Abuja said Nigeria does not need another Biafran war where a lot of people lost their lives.

Buhari cancels FEC meeting

President Muhammadu Buhari has called off the Federal Executive Council meeting scheduled for today.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said in a statement that the meeting was called off due to the inability of the government to prepare for the weekly meeting due to the
Sallah holiday.

The minister said that “the two-day public holidays declared for the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations left
little or no time to prepare for the weekly meeting.”

Nigeria out of recession, says NBS

According to new facts shared by the NBS DG, the economy grew by 0.55% in GDP terms for Q2 2017 after five consecutive quarters of contractions since Q1 2016.

The Statistician General of the Nigerian National Bureau of Statistics, Yemi Kale, just shared the news via his twitter handle.
