Collapsed building leaves one dead, 2 injured in Lagos

Two persons have injured and one confirmed dead on Tuesday after a building collapsed in the Agindigbi area of Lagos State.BUILDING-COLLAPSE
The incident was confirmed by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).
The agency said it received a call through its emergency toll-free line 112/767 about a sinking building in the Mechanic Village area of Agidingbi, Ikeja.
 It said; “Three persons were discovered trapped under the mud.

The party in a statement released by its Head, Publicity division, Chinwe Nnorom yesterday, dissociated itself from Deji Adeyanju, adding that the position of Director of New Media which he occupies is non-existent.

Minister of Agriculture warns of imminent food crisis

Minister of Agriculture, Audu Ogbeh, has warned of an imminent food crisis following the possible invasion of quelea birds, locusts and grasshoppers from neighboring Niger Republic into the country.Ogbeh
Ogbeh gave the warning during an emergency meeting with state commissioners of Agriculture in 12 states in Abuja.

Commissioners of Agriculture in Kebbi, Zamfara, Sokoto and Jigawa states who spoke at the meeting, confirmed the presence of quelea birds in about six -seven local governments areas in their states.

Nigeria military denies arresting Ahmed Salkida

Amaechi said before the president was elected, he did not leave anyone in doubt that the fight against corruption would not only be taken seriously but would form a cardinal plank of his policy direction.
He also said Buhari had made pronouncements that set the tone for anti-corruption agencies to go after anyone who has questions to answer, including members of his cabinet.

PDP shuts official Twitter account, launches new handle

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has announced the closure of its offiicial Twitter Handle @pdpnigeria and the launch of a new handle @officialpdpnig.PDP
The party also disowned its Director of New Media, Mr Deji Adeyanju. The party said the position of director of new media is alien to its organisation.
In a statement issued Monday night by Chinwe I. Nnorom, Head, Publicity Division, the party said the decision became imperative as as a result of frequent unauthorized tweets from the handle.

Wanted Nigerian journalist, Ahmad Salkida arrested at Abuja airport

According to Sahara Reporters, Ahmad Salkida, a Nigerian Journalist with access to Boko Haram,was yesterday arrested at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.Ahmed
Salkida was arrested as he arrived at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport aboard Emirates flight EK 785. He was reportedly taken into custody from the door of the aircraft by members of the security forces.
It will be recalled that Salkida, for his access to Boko Haram commanders, was declared wanted in August 2016 by the Nigerian Army in connection with the abducted Chibok girls and the terrorist group.

Militants tells residents around major oil facilities in Niger Delta to vacate residence

Urhobo militant group, Niger Delta Greenland Justice Mandate (NDGJM), yesterday asked residents around major oil and gas facilities across the Niger Delta to evacuate with immediate effect in order not to end up as casualties of militancy.Militants

According to a statement signed by its spokesman, Aldo Agbalaja, the group said the warning became necessary since most of the marked facilities in all the states in the region had been rigged with explosives waiting for detonation, adding that the detonation was being held back because of the people in the environment.
